April 8, 2000
The first Club run was held on Saturday April 8, in Clairmont Manor. The men's race was too close for winner, Randy Peck.(22:29). Scotty Sedum-Harry, a 12 year old from Rixeyville, gave Peck a run for his money. Harry kept the pressure on from the start and finished in second place, only 7 seconds behind Peck (22:36). Finishing in third place was Russell Brear in 22:50. For the women it was youth again, prevailing. Allison Willis, an 8th grader at Culpeper Middle School, won at 24:17, pacing dad, Jere Willis (Past Club President). Allison was over a minute ahead of second place local resident, Tracy Russillo (25:30). Elizabeth Harry, of Rixeyville, finished third in 28:23.
We always appreciate any kind of help on race day. Chris Fristad, Jenna Godfrey, Emily Kirk, and Robbie Peck - thanks for giving an hour of your day for community service. Thanks also to the Godfreys, for providing donuts and coffee after the event. This event *will* quadruple next time. Thanks for coming out. Everyone wins at small town-rural events!
